Christmas Tree in Constitution Square

An Athenian balcony

Streets in Athens and throughout the country are lit up
in a festival of colors from December 6th thru to January 7th

The streets, plazas, squares are planted with Christmas flora...
Poinsettias are beautiful and a personal favorite of mine....
my neighbor has them growing all over her house...
Every Christmas her garden and yard are a Xmas delight!

A church in the center of Athens....stands in contrast of the bright oranges...
a drive out of Athens is wonderful at this time of the year...
citrus fruit is a staple here in Greece and they grow in
most of the country with the exception of the higher elevations....
When I go to the "village" the valleys surrounding our
village are filled with lemon and orange trees.....
We drive right up to the trees and pick oranges from our car window
....truly sweet and refreshing...

Awesome sight...The Parthenon ...even though
it is a side view perched on the Acropolis
and a pedestrian shopping street below...

The Athens Metro / Subway

This is the man-made outdoor ice rink in
the National Gardens in central Athens...

I haven't gone there yet this year.
Nice touch though.....
